being loud when it’s supposed to be reserved
may send wrong signals to the rest of the world.
but sometimes, the extrovert in me
just needs to sit in a yard
and eat and drink and laugh, loudly,
(at a distance, that is)
and feel the relief.
and when the neighbours look and
shake their heads
they may actually be right.
well, then this is my moment to be wrong
but feel better and more resilient
when it’s time to get back to business
and these rules
put in place to save so many
in our community.
so I ask to cut me some slack
in private spaces.
I’ll do my best to do the same.
