momentarily debilitated

it’s an invitation to surrender,

I know, and I try,

but it’s still not my strong suit.

it’s the part of not being able to do anything about it

that’s the weirdest to me

and so to rebel just a little,

tea bags pile up next to empty lemon peels,

smoothies take on all colours of the rainbow,

the bin bathes in tissue balls.

it’s that time of the year,

everybody has it,

there’s no way to get around it.

(and an ankle, well, occasionally

twists into the wrong direction.)

so I’ve taken this opportunity

to ease up any tensions left

(just as my yoga teacher encouraged)

so that once healed and healthy again,

new spaces have opened up

for change and creativity.
