A Tribute

She can’t stop doing what she does

and what she does is extraordinary.

In her work, she portrays the staged life we all live

and the masks we all put on

and the landscapes we frequently trod.

She takes pictures and captures opinions before anyone’s senses are ready.

She pushes and pioneers

– gracefully and purposefully –

and so exhibits the longing

some of us share sometimes

to participate in life so fully

and make meaning through art and make it last, perhaps,

or at least matter.

And today

I feel this intensity that only purpose has

when it grabs its instrument

and begins running.
