Market Square

There we were
dancing
in the sunshine
as if people were watching
and it just didn’t matter,
with the abilities that we were given
and all of our favorite moves
and words made up to songs we didn’t know the lyrics of
of spoke the language of
but liked anyway.
There, in the spring sunshine,
in the middle of the market square,
it occurred to me:
paradise can really wait.
