Alltagsmagie

something_s we make

afternoon swing

and when you walked toward me

today out in the sunshine

in the late afternoon of early spring

with those red vans and your suspenders on

and that black top hat from times so long ago

that’s all that I could do

the Charleston this and that way

that’s all that I could do

and could have only done

if only the night had waited

if only the night had waited – just a smidgen longer –

and the air hadn’t grown so crisp

reminding us it’s time

when it’s time for other, other things
